Silence Malayalam Movie Review and Box Office Collection Report

                          Silence is Malayalam Superstar Mammootty's latest movie which was released on 7th Dec 2013.This is his 6th and last movie of 2013.This is the first movie coming from Mammootty-VK Prakash patchup. the movie also stars Mumbai based model pallavi Menon opposite Mammootty making her malayalam debut. This is her second movie after Kaanchi. The movie also features Anoop Menon, Joy mathew etc. Anoop Menon is playing the role of an IPS officer in the movie.
                        The movie came up with high expectations from the movie goers due to various reasons including the Mammootty-VKP team up and the promotional posters, trailers and the investigative plot.The movie is produced by Afsheena Saleem in the banner of Ayesha Films. Music is done by Ratheesh Vega who came up with good songs in VKP's beautiful earlier.

PLOT :
                        Mammootty Plays the role of an advocate Aravind chandrashekhar who is newly appointed in Karnataka High Court. Aravind has never lost any of the cases in he had attended to his career. The story starts with Aravind visiting Kerela for a festival. While in kerela he gets an Anonymous phone call asking him to play a HIDE AND SEEK game. The movie's inception seems to be inspired from the movie Grandmaster (2010). Many incidents leads him to believe that the call was not simply a Prank call. He then asks help from his close friend Neil George played by Anoop Menon. the rest of the story develops around analysing Aravind's past and revealing the Mystery of the call and the caller.

REVIEW :
                        Mammootty is the main highlight of the movie with his splendid performance as usual. Anoop Menon also has done a great job with the role he has got. Pallavi does an average performance in the movie. the child artist in the role of Aditya has given out a wonderful performance in the movie. Othe actors including Aparna Nair (Liji), Basil (John), Joy Mathew (Markos), Ravi Vallathol etc. had done justice to their roles.
                      The cinematography of the movie done by manoj Kumar is impressive. music and BGM by Ratheesh Vega failed to transfer the impact to the audience. There are many good dialogues in the movie. The script by YT Rajesh is just average. The first half was quite thrilling and impressive but he failed to keep up the pace of the movie through the second half. The script of the movie is predictable. The fight scenes and the chases offer a good visual treat for the audience. The direction by VK Prakash helped the movie to turn out as an average investigative thriller. VKP has tried to make up for the mistakes he had done in directing his previous investigative thriller Thank You which was a failure at the boxoffice.
                     A person going without any expectations for the movie will surely find the movie interesting. The movie is a good go for Mammootty fans and a fair go for those who like dark mood thrillers. Though it failed to keep up the expectations it is an average movie offering some entertainment. The movie is receiving average word of mouth after a day of its release. As a thriller, the movie had failed to impress the audience.

Boxoffice :
                  The movie is expected to do fairly at the box office due the fact that there are no releases for the next two weeks. The movie being a Christmas movie was released alot earlier to avoid competitions from other Christmas releases including Mohanlal starrer Drishyam and Dileep starrer Ezhu Sundararaathrikal. The movie's long run will highly depend on the effect of Christmas releases on the box office. Curious how the movie will cling on in the festive season.
The satellite rights of the movie was bagged by Surya TV. It is the fourth Mammootty starrer bought by Surya TV in a row.
                   A terrible run for the movie all over Kerala due to lack of publicity as well as poor audience opinion. The movie had a silent week so far and the future seems dim. Silence made a meager collection of around 2 crores in it's first week. Terrible figures considering the huge cast and crew.
                    The box office returning are dipping day by day and almost 20 removals within 2 week run. Two week gross of the movie is estimated to be around 2.45 crores.
                    Silence is very much silent at the box office. The movie that has completed 30 days in the box office has managed to gross about 3.10 crores.
