Pattam Pole Review and Box Office Collection Report

Pattam Pole is the debuting directoinal venture of well known cinematographer Azhagappan. Pattam Pole is the fourth release of Dulquer Salmaan this year who is enjoying a dream run so far. This is also the debut movie for lead actress Malavika Mohanan. The movie is produced by Karunagaran Kanhagad under the banner of Carlton films.

REVIEW :

Pattam Pole is the love story of a brahmin boy Karthik (played by Dulquer Salmaan) and a christian girl Riya (played by Malavika Mohanan). It is evidently a repeated theme in Malayalam cinema and the movie Pattam Pole is another old school romantic story of egoistic lovers. Dulquer Salmaan has done a clean job with very few cherishable moments. Malavika Mohanan has done terribly at parts and overall a below average showpiece. Anoop Menon as usual has done his small part very well with utmost simplicity. The supporting cast including Archana Kavi, Lalu Alex, Jayaprakash, Shraddha Gokul have done their part very well. The initial part of the movie is engaging arising curiosity in us about the plot but as the movie progresses the movie becomes predictable and totally boring.
The cinematography handled by Azhagappan himself is excellent. The songs composed by M Jayachandran is very melodious and romantic. The visuals by Azhagappan are beautiful with a good pairing of Dulquer Salmaan and Malavika Mohanan. The screenplay by Gireesh Kumar is disappointing.
Pattam Pole is an old fashioned romance with beautiful visuals and songs. Just go for it if you can bear a romantic tale with less glitters.

BOX OFFICE :

Pattam Pole got released in a total of around 80 theatres all over kerala. But the movie has failed to impress the movie goers. The movie is receiving average to below average reports from the viewers. First week gross of the movie is estimated to be 2.60 crores. Considering the number of screen releases and pre-release buzz, the movie performance at the box office is poor. The word of mouth indicates that the box office collection will steeply dip in the coming days.
As expected the movie is abandoned by all set of audience, as a result it faced huge number of removals and reduced number of shows in the remaining centres. The movie could hardly collect 1 crore in it's second week. The total collection of the movie is estimated to be 3.50 crores. Eventhough Dulquar Salmaan couldn't be blamed for choosing 'Theevram' which suffered a similar fate, 'Pattam Pole' had nothing new to offer.
